Ms. Shao concentrates her practice in immigration law and matrimonial law. She has represented many clients before the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services and the Executive Office for Immigration Review. Ms. Shao has successfully defended numerous removal proceeding cases over the past few years. Prior to forming the Law Office of Aileen Shao, P.C., Ms. Shao worked in an immigration law practice setting, as well as a general practice boutique firm, gaining experience in a number of different practice areas, such as real estate transactions, matrimonial law and landlord/tenant litigation. Ms. Shao has been quoted in a number of newspaper articles, including the Chinese World Journal.
Ms. Shao is a graduate of Stony Brook University, receiving a Bachelor of Science, magna cum laude, in Mathematics and Economics. She received her Juris Doctor from the University at Buffalo Law School, where she served as secretary of the Asian American Law Student Association (AALSA). Ms. Shao was awarded the 2010 AALSA President’s Award for outstanding commitment and service to the Asian American Law Students Association. She also studied international law at the University of Oxford in England.
Ms. Shao is admitted to practice law in New York and New Jersey. She is also admitted to the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey.
Ms. Shao is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and Fujianese Chinese.
